Classic illustration with a bold new edge. For this week’s Artist Feature, the Directory of Illustration highlights an updated portfolio of Greg Newbold’s newest works. A Salt Lake City native, Greg Newbold is an award winning artist with over twenty years of experience working with top brands and publishing companies.

Adding to his already impressive skill set, Greg earned his MFA in Illustration at the University of Hartford in 2009 where he added digital painting and gallery oil painting to his repertoire. Greg’s recognizable brand of work has been commissioned by such notable clients as Simon & Schuster, Random House, Heinz Foods, Harper Collins, Smuckers, American Express, Kleenex, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times and Sony Pictures.

He has also illustrated a dozen children’s books, including: “If Picasso Painted a Snowman” and “If da Vinci Painted a Dinosaur” written by wife Amy Newbold (Tilbury House Publishers- 2017; 2018), and The Little Match Girl (Shadow Mountain; 2017).

Newbold’s work has been honored with awards from such groups as The Society of Illustrators (NY), Communication Arts, The American Institute of Graphic Design, the Los Angeles Society of Illustrators (Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals), Spectrum and others. A five time Best of State-Utah winner in Drawing/Illustration and winner of the Best of State Statue for Arts & Entertainment, Greg’s work has been exhibited in New York City; Los Angeles; Columbus, Ohio; and in galleries around the Mountain West. He is currently seeking his next children’s book project.
