Breakthrough Contest Reception 2013

It’s hard to believe that last week came and went. Zhichao Cai, the winner of this year’s Breakthrough Contest, came to join us in New York City all the way from Hangzhou, China. Apart from enjoying the sites and sounds of the city, our main purpose in bringing him here was to congratulate him in person and give him the kind of exposure that can help launch a career in the states.

Many of our friends and artists (including Niklas Asker from Sweden, Goni Montes from Atlanta, Guy Stauber from England, James Bennett, Dongyun Lee, Rudy Gutierrez, David Palumbo, and Chase Stone) joined us for an office reception where we presented him with his award and got to showcase his work. Also joining us was the third place winner Tanner Griepentrog from San Francisco, who is well on his way to a successful career in illustration. Everyone agreed that their portfolios were overwhelmingly good. We’re all looking forward to seeing how their careers evolve.
