legs. I remember happiness: sitting in grandmother’s lap by the
window, waiting for morning. Feeling her heartbeat on my back. The
snow growing bluer and bluer in the parking lot outside.”

First released artwork from a forthcoming picture book illustrated by
Jess X. Chen based on an essay by Vietnamese-American poet, Ocean
Vuong. The essay, published in Guernica Magazine, chronicles his
experiences of growing up as a Vietnamese refugee in America.You can
