Illustrator Dorothea Taylor, owner of T.P. Design, was commissioned by Harrisburg Airport in collaboration with Frontier Airlines to create a series of four posters promoting travel to Middle Pennsylvania. The campaign’s purpose is to spark Pennsylvania tourism. This vintage style travel poster focuses on Gettysburg Pennsylvania. The sights highlighted include the Gettysburg Battlefield, the Gettysburg Hotel, Longstreet Tower, Lincoln, Union soldiers, Ghost tours, the Eternal Light monument and a Frontier Airline plane. Taylor elaborates:

We get a lot of inspiration from vintage travel posters. It’s a style that permeates throughout our portfolio. The art director for this project had a vision of creating air travel posters with that old, nostalgic feel. The Directory of Illustration gives us the perfect platform to display our work to potential clients like this.

Born and raised in Wisconsin, Dorothea discovered her love for drawing at an early age. She is equally inspired by the beauty of nature as she is by the curve and flow of letter-forms. Some of her artistic influences are vintage art deco prints and travel posters as well as lush impressionistic paintings and beautifully intricate patterns. She received her B.F.A. in Graphic design. Working as a graphic designer/illustrator all of her adult life, she developed an affinity for digital art and the power to create and manipulate images digitally. Her formal training is traditional, so she enjoys sketching, drawing and painting but she finds that the art of combing mixed media digitally lends itself to unlimited possibilities. Dorothea currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia where she owns and runs an award winning design studio, T.P. Design Inc.
