Eileen Mao is an illustrator based in Los Angeles, CA. She moved from Taipei, Taiwan to Southern California at the age of 13. In 2016, she graduated from ArtCenter College of Design with a BFA in Illustration. Eileen’s work frequently deals with the concepts of abnormality and beauty. It constantly challenges viewers to question if what they see is appealing or unseemly, and enchants them to find and connect with something heart-felt and fascinating within the hideous or unconventional elements within. As an artist, one of Eileen’s goals is for her viewers to empathize with what they’ve yet to experience personally. She is the most interested in revealing beauty in the grotesque.
