This was for an article about US state governments being able to file for bankruptcy due to the mounting debts incurred by the recession. It being an article about the US means I didn’t get the chance to use any stereotypical canadian imagery for the Toronto based Globe & Mail. Which was a shame since I had this great one in mind with a hockey player riding a giant beaver, brandishing a curling broom. I can see it in my head, and it is so beautiful… *single tear*

This was the second set of sketches I sent in since the AD and I agreed that every sketch in the first group were the worst ideas ever.
And the final. At least we’ve got the snow, that’s pretty canadian.
