Hi Emory, my name is Alex Young. I am currently a Graphic Design student and will be attending Sasquatch festival this year for the first time (I couldn’t be more excited!). I am very interested in who creates the art and designs for anything music based and I have seen a lot of your posters and they are great, original and fun. If you don’t mind me asking, what kind of work do you usually do? I know you have worked within the music industry, I am very interested in your career and work.

Hi Alex, Thanks for getting in touch! I’m a freelance illustrator by night and a full time graphic designer by day. As an illustrator, I mostly create editorial illustrations but sometimes I’m lucky enough to get the chance to create work for entertainment clients.

For Sasquatch this year, I was approached by Wexley School For Girls, an ad agency based in Seattle. It was a pretty massive undertaking because they were originally planning on two weekends of shows with a unique look for each weekend. I had to create two decks of cards and each card had its own illustration. That’s 108 drawings. In order to make it easy to apply these drawings across countless signage and promotional items, I delivered the line work and the client applied the paint textures. Unfortunately, the second weekend was cut from the schedule so half my drawings didn’t get to see the light of day. Overall it was a blast.

If you have any other questions, feel free to email me at ahoyhoy@ocularinvasion.com. Cheers!
