I know that everyone is tired of hearing about how awful the year has been, so I’ll save you my 2 cents and opt instead for a sidestep.
No matter what happened during 2016, in practice, this year was different for everyone. It’s one of the biggest lessons we’ve learned – reality is complex and never easy to navigate.
So, to make sense of it and to make sense of what I want in 2017, I’ll seek out what binds me to my friends and family, my work, and the world around me. Love, hope, endless curiosity, deeper understanding, and a desire to make the world a better, more thoughtful, more compassionate place. These virtues are worth fighting for and I promise to continue fighting for them.
So, to all of my family, friends, colleagues, clients – thank you for loving me and letting me love you, supporting me, caring about me and my well being, and for sharing your time and energy with me. I can’t wait to keep working with you on making art and making this world and this life better with you.
Here are some of my favorite pieces I made this year. I hope you enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed making them!
