Iâ€™m excited to share a new portrait illustration I made for EXHIBITOR Magazineâ€™s February issue! The portrait is of Nichole Kelly, the CEO ofÂ Social Media Explorer and its corresponding marketing agency. The article it accompanies is an interview with Nichole about her fresh perspective on marketingÂ in the age of social media.
I was excited to make the illustration after reading the article, as Nicholeâ€™s approach to marketing and branding is people-positive and progressive. Her theories are personal and incredibly empathetic and much of her suggested strategies involve creating communities and seeking to fulfill consumers as opposed to cut-and-dry advertising for the sake of profit alone.
The concept I was provided with was to create an illustration of Nichole listening to a blue bird sing. I sent three sketches to my art director with slight variations on the theme and it was decided that the middle sketch was the clearest and most dynamic (although, I do also like the fruity sketch quite a bit)
