I’m very excited to share some of the work I made for Koreatown: A Cookbook, by Deuki Hong & Matt Rodbard! The book focuses on Korean American culture, the incredible food you can find throughout different restaurants in Korean American communities throughout the country, as well as different recipes for making many of these meals at home.
Matt invited me to work on the project last spring and I’ve been waiting with excited anticipation to share the work we made since. I made illustrations for the opening pages of each chapter, as well as illustrations of some of the different celebrity chefs, actors, and musicians that the authors spent time with over meals, like Andy Milonakis and Patrick Stump.
This was an incredibly fun assignment to work on and my research for the assignment left me consistently craving all of the food I was drawing. I have so much gratitude for Matt and Deuki for inviting me to work with them on these pieces. And a big thank you as well to the designer and art director of the book, La Tricia Watford, for her art direction with the chapter openers!
