Jason Scuderi from Lasergun Factory recently worked with the iconic Japanese jewelry brand Mikimoto in collaboration with Vice Japan to create an animation teaser for their 125th anniversary event, “Feel the Pearl.”

Mikimoto’s “Feel the Pearl” exhibition in Tokyo features a number of interactive installations, including a virtual reality video. In creating the animation teaser, Jason’s intention was to mimic the exhibition by following the pearl on its journey into the mysterious depths to which it was created.  In Jason’s own words, “the deep black and rich blue tones parallel the exhibition space allowing the pearl and various jewelry to act as bright beacons of light.”

The positive response from the client prompted the creation of a secondary video that showcases a historical overview of the brand, beginning with the founder Kokichi Mikimoto creating the world’s first cultured pearl. The remainder of the video features various highlights of the company’s 125 year history. Get an exclusive look at this video on our Directory of Illustration IGTV channel.
