My buddy/fellow artist Kelly Perry (http://www.kellyperryart.com/) challenged me to begin a new piece featuring a central female character (something that is challenging for me) wearing suggestive/non-realistic female body armor (something that is impossible for me).
Although my portfolio might belie the fact, I generally draw ugly, scary, masculine things and tend to shy away from the pretty/ attractive, female subject matters. Similarly, I tend not to draw overly feminized armor (‘boob armor’ as we like to call it) since it seems sort of ahistorical/illogical/dismissive to me.
Regardless, the gauntlet has been thrown and (probably for the better), I’m going to try my hand at painting a ‘chick in boob armor.’
Sketches to come soon!
