Marina Micheli, a Directory of Illustration artist based out of New York, recently created this colorful, lively illustration to celebrate WorldPride NYC 2019!

This year, NYC Pride welcomes WorldPride in celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising and half-century of LGBTQIA+ liberation. Events including rallies, parties, lectures, live music performances and more will take place the entire month of June, culminating in the famous NYC Pride March on Sunday, June 30th.

Marina told us she wanted to “create an image that shows the diversity of many people with different sexual orientations, multi-ethnic, multi-racial all together to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall.” Her illustration truly embodies the spirit of inclusivity and community that have become synonymous with global Pride celebrations. Marina works as a freelance painter and illustrator in New York City’s East Village, creating humorous, cartoon-comic style artwork for various commercial companies and private clients. In 2018, she illustrated for the children’s book, A Tail of Two Kitties, written by Richard Cooper (an assignment she received through the Directory of Illustration). We covered this exciting project in a blog post last year—check it out here.
