Mark Lund photographs Audrey Gelman at home in Brooklyn for The Aesthete. Lund is a contributor to the digital arts and culture site. Gelman is the press secretary for Manhattan borough president Scott Stringer. Before she moved in, the apartment belonged to her good friend Lena Dunham, the writer and director of HBO’s new hit series Girls.
Lund shot Gelman on a lazy, rainy Saturday. Gelman spoke of her friendship with Dunham and how several of the show’s plotlines are based on their adventures growing up together. Gelman even has a few cameos in upcoming episodes. Her apartment is also filled with political paraphernalia. Gelman admits that it has always been her dream to work in politics. Lund calls her a “very sweet, very real, very cool girl.”
