October 28, 2014 We are thrilled to welcome Toronto raised, New York based, fashion illustrator Meagan Morrison to The Illustration Room. Her painterly fashion and travel illustrations capture incredible detail and are alive with vibrant, energetic and electric colours. Her blog and instagram Travel Write Draw have a rapidly increasing following of people hooked on her charming illustrations and live fashion portraits.
Meagan received her Fashion Illustration degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City in 2011, after working in Canada’s fashion industry a few years, and after having obtained her Bachelor of Commerce Degree. “I always loved art and fashion, and dreamed of a career that would marry the two in such an integral way.”
She has illustrated from the runway of Oscar de la Renta, Anna Sui, Tibi, Custo Barcelona, and has been commissioned by Marie Claire and Armani, Saks and M Missoni.
Meagan has today flown home from Moscow after living out her fairytale as a guest of Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Russia illustrating the collections as they were unveiled, see pics below. A highlight being a live portrait of supermodel Natalia Vodianova. After falling for her delicious use of colour I followed Meagan’s work and watched her profile quickly rise. Then when reading her recent blog post about the coincidences surrounding her arrival in Moscow, I was even more convinced she is an exciting addition to our exceptional team of talent. This passion and belief in her work is what drives every project we take on and what I look for as part of The Illustration Room roster of artists.
“…one of the very first illustrations I posted on Travel Write Draw was an image of a Russian girl in a Moscow fur hat, standing in front of St. Basil’s. I can’t help but feel like I willed my dream into reality. As I’ve said from the beginning, “we manifest our own destinies. We have the power to live the lives we’ve always dreamed of. We put our intentions out into the universe by what we say, do, how we act, who we surround ourselves with, and through the law of attraction, we bring it back to us tenfold.” Maybe it’s a coincidence but either way it is a dream come true.
