Turn off the brain and draw without aim. That’s what happened here. I hacked out a couple of rough-sketch figure studies and started filling in around them.
I gave the guy a lightsaber because, without it, the drawing was very dull. Imagine this drawing without the lightsabre. Imagine he has a stick, or a club or a baseball bat.
But, put a lightsaber in his hands, and suddenly it’s gone all Star Wars! The drawing may not be very good, but at least it has a lightsaber in it. Works for me, at any rate.
