Serco Illustration Awards…

…As promised here is my entry for the Serco/AoI Illustration Awards 2011.  The theme was the River Thames.  I am really very pleased with the result of the image which is aimed towards children and a journey to London Zoo via the Thames.  The idea is simple but effective, to take the river and wrap it around the long neck of a giraffe like a scarf.  The bridges and landmarks are identified by typographic areas on the ‘scarf/river’.  Unfortunately it hasn’t made the top 50, a bit disappointing, but we can’t win them all can we?  Congratulations to all of those who have made it in.
