Sketchbook Drawing August Update

Hey everyone! Hope you’re all having a great August! I love drawing in my sketchbook, and try and draw at least once a day which I’ve been doing consistently for over 4 years now (sometimes more than once a day, and sometimes less when it’s hectic)!

It’s a great way for me to practice my drawing skill, and has a positive effect on my commissioned work. Drawing helps me explore different ways of working, and helps me experiment. There is a negative to all this sketchbook drawing however, where to put my full sketchbooks in my house!

I’ve recently been drawing with new mediums in my sketchbook; bringing in coloured brush pens. This double sided pen (a brush on one end and more of a ‘pen’ on the other), offers bright colour and mixes up the thickness which I love! Combining this with my trusted colouring pencil approach has lead to some pretty interesting results, which you can see below!

I have three forms of sketchbooks that I usually work in, from A4, A5, to A6. I tend to use A4 and A5 the most, with A6 coming into play when I haven’t got that much room whilst traveling or I want to sketch something quick.

I sketch a lot of portraits in my sketchbook, as I love to draw faces. I’m not too sure why this is, but it’s a challenge as every face is unique and different! I have also included my landscape and observational drawings to dig your teeth into.

Drawing has a great influence on my creativity and skill, which is evident within my illustration artwork (I hope)! Drawing in my sketchbook has always been something that I have done, and it’s become an addiction now! I always want to improve and this is a great way to evolve as an artist and illustrator.

What’s Included In This Drawing Update?

This sketchbook update reveals portrait drawings of the late Bruce Forsyth, Nile Rodgers, including a scary and moody looking portrait (which is my self portrait – I’m not sad, scary or rude in real life like I depict myself in my self portraits)!

I hope you enjoy this sketchbook drawing update, do have a look at my previous sketchbook update, and I have also revamped by website to show not only my illustration portfolio but graphic design portfolio too!

Many thanks for listening and visiting my news page today. You can follow what I’m up to on my Twitter, Facebook or Google + pages, I’ll really appreciate it if you do, and don’t be afraid to say hi to me! Many thanks again, and have a great day!
