A look at the Art of Brett Stiles

Artist Brett Stiles gets his inspiration from his son, skateboarding, music, graffiti, table tennis, industrial design and travel. Based in Austin, Texas and part of Homestead Creatives, a renowned agency and production company, Stiles is a master of logos, posters, brochures, books, album covers and more.

Throughout the years, he’s worked with such prestigious clients as Nike, AT&T, Southwest Airlines, Nabisco, The United States Air Force, Vans and many more. Over the years Stiles has become a highly sought after illustrator, specializing in “what you wanted all along but couldn’t quite explain.”

He’s also the creator of the 50 Licks series, in which he created a new and unique stamp for each of the 50 states. You can see more of Stiles’ work, including a few images from 50 Licks, on his Directory of Illustration portfolio page.

Ashleigh Corrin for Diagnosis Diabetes

Here is some artwork created by Ashleigh Corrin for Studio Gannett of USA TODAY. The illustrations & animations were created for a story in the digital publication, Diagnosis Diabetes.

The assignment was to illustrate how the lifestyle changes made to control diabetes can benefit the patient in other ways.

Chris Edser for NFL & Whistle Sports

Whistle Sports, an online media network responsible for creating football-themed social media content for the NFL, recently enlisted the help of Chris Edser to create a series of team matchup pieces titled, ‘Second Season’.

Chris’ artwork and animations are being featured on the NFL’s official social media outlets throughout the playoffs leading up to Super Bowl LI.

Sam Chivers for The Guardian

Sam Chivers created a series of 7 illustrations that were turned into animations for an interactive article on The Guardian website, created in conjunction with Heathrow, about how airports are moving towards sustainability in the future.

Graham Studios Wins NAI Award for McLeod Plantation App

The Interpretive Media Awards presented by the National Association for Interpretation promotes excellence in the delivery of natural, cultural, and historical interpretive services.

As a part of the renewal of the McLeod Plantation Historic Site in Charleston, South Carolina, William Graham of Graham Studios was commissioned to create, “The McLeod Plantation Historic Site: Transition to Freedom app,” a self-guided iPhone tour of pre-Civil War cotton production.

In collaboration with the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission and The Design Minds, Inc.; Bill created illustrations and motion graphics that presented an historically accurate depiction of the process of picking, cleaning and ginning cotton which depended entirely on slave labor.

Makoto Koji: Valentine’s Bun

You will fall in love with Australian illustrator and animator Makoto Koji’s latest work – Valentine’s Bun.

Makoto Koji, is a female Japanese/Aussie Animator and Illustrator, born in Hiroshima, raised in the wilderness of rural Queensland and currently based in Adelaide, South Australia. She began her professional animation career in 2007 at The People’s Republic of Animation as an Animator and Character Designer on Short Films (Including Oscar Short Listed – The Cat Piano, 2009), TVC’s, Television Series, Music Videos and Game Cut Scenes.

In 2014, Makoto’s distinct body of work was recognised by QANTAS Spirit of the Youth Art Awards (SOYA Awards) where she was a Finalist in the Animation category. She has been a successful grant recipient multiple times and recently was the featured Animator for LoopdeLoop x WANDAA (Women and Animation Australia) event, where they screened her short films, Peppercorn Babycorn Unicorn and Ko-Oni to celebrate female Animators internationally
