The Lioness

If only someone would pay me to hang around their zoo all day making friends with and painting all the animals. My life would be complete! This fierce, gorgeous lady lives at the San Diego Zoo. We went last Fall to check out all the parks, and let me tell you, my cup was full.

This painting was a bit of a quick one created on the iPad in Procreate. I started with the big shapes and worked into the details. I approach animal portraits the same as I do the human variety. Lots of measuring, looking at shapes, adding my own flair, and having fun. What is your favorite wild thing found at the zoo? (What’s your favorite zoo?
