Whip Some Skull on Yerâ¦
⦠was the working title of what would become, âBrain Salad Surgery,â the fourth album by the band, Emerson, Lake & Palmer, released in 1973. The final title was nicked from the Dr. John Song, âRight Place, Wrong Time.â Both phrases were euphemisms for the same sex act.
As a long time H.R. Giger fan, Iâve long wanted to try my hand at one of the most iconic album covers of all time. This from back in the day when LPs came in sizable sleeves that one could pour over for hours and enjoy the artistry. Unlike today, all you get now is a postage stamp. Somethingâs certainly been lost. Some contend the 70s as a golden age in music. Perhaps the loss of packaging art reflects a loss of artistry of whatâs inside those packages?
Unfortunately, weâve also lost Mr. Giger, who passed away last year.
