This week, the Directory of Illustration highlights recent work from Christian Dellavedova, represented by Antonio Adriao Artist Representative (AAARep).
FROM THE ARTIST
I was asked by the Italian magazine Internazionale to create illustrations for an article by Randy Laist called, “What do shoes do?” Since I’m a fan of sci-fi movies and “2001 a space odyssey” is one of my all-time favorite films, I had this idea.
The article deals specifically about the importance of shoes as one of the first inventions of human technology. As a prototype for all other technologies, shoes are an important part of the story of human consciousness.
In detail, the article refers to the political importance of shoes and talks about the al-Zaidi footwear attack on George W. Bush in 2008, and Nikita Khrushchev’s shoe-banging at the UN in 1960.
