2013 is going out with a bang.
On December 10, SCBWI Metro New York revealed their new logo. â¨My logo (left) was chosen as one of two runners-up.
On December 21, I will be reading my story for the Atlantic Avenue BID Children’s Literature Contest at Table 87 in Brooklyn Heights. I’m one of eight finalists in the competition. We will be judged by Bruce Degan (Magic School Bus) and Melissa Guion (Baby Penguins Everywhere). I am so excited for this opportunity.
I still have to pinch myself that associate editor Sarah Zhang (Boyds Mills Press) is working with me on my picture book dummy. It’s amazing to actually have phone calls with her to discuss the story.
And on top of that, I just got two pieces into the Philadelphia Sketch Club â Works on Paper exhibition.
Seriously, pinch me.
I hope that 2014 has more goodies in store. I am certain it will be full of obstacles and rejections as well. But I am getting so much better at working through rejection. What used to feel like cold water splashed on my face, now just feels like an occasional rain. It’s not comfortable, but I can keep moving through it.
I also see amazing things being made by my writer/illustrator friends, and I hope that 2014 brings good news for them as well.
Happy holidays to everyone.
Here is a silly holiday image to make you smile.
