Baltimore’s Peabody Institute is the oldest music conservatory in the United States. Every degree- and diploma-seeking student needs to audition as part of the application process. Every year, more than 1,000 applicants descend upon every studio, rehearsal and performance space in the institution’s one-block campus for Audition Week. The school’s magazine talks to students and alumni about the process as well as faculty and staff about how they manage the sudden influx of performers and insure they have everything they need for their make-or-break performance.
