Cutaway factory building illustration for a jigsaw puzzle

Rod Hunt was commissioned by Australian street furniture design and manufacture company Mos to create the artwork for their annual jigsaw puzzle gift to their clients. This year they wanted to create a fictionalised cutaway building illustration of their offices and factory to showcase the company’s production processes, manufacturing capabilities and business departments. The iconic historical industrial space the White Bay Power Station in Sydney was used as the inspiration for the factory building.

The illustrated factory features the different production stages from beginning to end including welding, CNC pipe bending, powder coating, timber bending, timber cutting and machining, assembly, quality control and final packaging. Business elements were also shown including the design department, R&D, product testing, staff recreation area, marketing, and business development. Rod created portraits of key staff  members in the business that were shown working in their respective departments. Can you also spot the pop culture references from An Officer and a Gentleman, Terminator II and Charlie & the Chocolate Factory?
