Libraries are good–possibly the best public institution ever created
Unfortunately, New York City mayor Eric Adams and his counterparts in the New York City Council are planning to slash funding to the city’s library systems by 9%. Nothing good will come of this.
While the city can’t find 0.03% of it’s budget to preserve existing library funding, it has no problem paying for more than $100 million of unplanned police overtime.
There are petitions calling for the city to fund the Brooklyn, Queens and New York Public libraries. You should sign them.
While you’re at it, call your council member and yell about the city’s misplaced priorities.
