From the Artist: I was asked by the Italian magazine Internazionale to illustrate an article by the poet and writer Ubah Cristina Ali Farah, titled “Leaving in the Afternoon,” which is about the difficult situation faced by the Somalian refugees. I used the puffer fish as a metaphor of the world in distress, half submerged and half out of the sea, trying to symbolize the emotions of going adrift without a certain destination.
