THE WORK

Illustrator: Sharif Tarabay

Agent: John Brewster Creative Services

Client: Firedog Creative Agency, Dong Energy

About the Project: For his recent project commissioned by Firedog Creative Agency for the UK’s Dong Energy, Sharif Tarabay skillfully pays tribute to another artist’s masterpiece. Drawing inspiration from Caspar David Friedrich’s renowned painting, “Wanderer Above The Sea Of Fog” from 1818, Tarabay creates a captivating pastiche. The iconic imagery, originally exploring the sublime power of nature, finds a fitting reinterpretation in Tarabay’s work, especially considering the campaign’s focus on introducing the UK’s inaugural large-scale offshore wind farm. About the Artist: Sharif Tarabay is a Montreal-based illustrator. His major influences are some of the great painters of the 19th and 20th century such as Rockwell and Sundblom.

He also loves 18th century art, music and antiques, and even goes so far as saying he was born in the wrong century and that the 1700s would have been ideal for him. It’s no surprise, then, that his ideal holiday would be to an old European city to explore its museums. He also enjoys playing football – real football, or as we might call it – soccer, and coaching his three children in the sport.
