The Association of Illustrators (The AOI), in partnership with the Directory of Illustration, recently announced the Longlist for the World Illustration Awards 2022!

In December 2021, we opened our call to illustrators with the aim of celebrating great illustration. The Longlist has been selected by the jury from over 5,000 entries submitted from across the globe. The full 500-strong Longlist is now live on the AOI website for you to browse. The Longlist represents some of the very best illustration from around the world. There is a huge variety of work, themes, color and styles to enjoy and be inspired by!

The Longlist includes projects from all ten WIA categories by both New Talent and Professional Illustrators. The categories cover major sectors in which illustration is commissioned, including several areas of Publishing, Editorial, Advertising, to the more specialized Site Specific and Science & Technology categories, with self-initiated projects presented alongside campaigns commissioned by globally-recognized brands.

Directory of Illustration artists made an impressive showing in the WIA Longlist this year, with over 30 artists making the Longlist! Representing nearly every category in the competition, the DI Longlisted artists span editorial, exploration, science & technology and more. Over the course of the next several weeks, we will be featuring these Directory of Illustration artists and their Longlisted projects by category.
