I love Fall. It’s my favorite time of year. Pretty leaves, pumpkins, and Thanksgiving. The weather is cooler , unless you’re in the midsouth, then Mother Nature likes to play spin the weather wheel.

I have so many sketches and illustrations of leaves, pumpkins, gourds, Halloween things. With that in mind, I was going to vectorize my leaves and pumpkins. However, it was the beginning of October, which according to holiday deadlines I was months behind. With online POD stores, I was at least two months behind.

The work months ahead on seasonal art has always been a conundrum for me. Don’t get me wrong – I’m good at deadlines. In marketing and writing, I was always meeting or delivering early. If I’m working on a commission or freelance project, I’ll hit the deadline. Not under a deadline and creating vibe-inspired art, it’s a challenge. I’m not inspired to illustrate fall or pumpkins in March. I’m thinking about daffodils.

So, this time I decided if I worked quickly enough I could do it. I started with my pumpkins. Then, my eyesight got bad. My eyes were blurry. My husband said, “You need a big screen desktop, not your little laptop and tablet.” I thought the tablet would help, but not really. Old injuries in my neck reawakened and it hurt to hold my head up. Then, I broke my glasses. Now, I had no choice, but to take a week off to rest my neck and eyes.

After the rest, I decided to recreate a gender-neutral zombie. That lead to creating a few more zombies, a Halloween fairy, stars and a haunted house. For some reason my inspiration, went that way. I still don’t know.

Regardelss, my leaves and pumpkins fell by the proverbial wayside. They are still on my “to do” list, however. I guess I will recreate them in March.
