I hadn’t painted in a few years and was ready to begin again. I was playing around with my watercolors, but need something to move me to paint it.

Then, our river community announced it was having a fundraiser for a member with cancer. Their expenses were enormous and the family needed help. Everyone was pitching in procuring or donating items. New to the community, I didn’t have connections to hit up for donations. So, I decided to paint and donate the paintings.

Two beautiful abstracts – River Beach I and II – were the fruit of my creativity. I wanted to capture the vibe of the river and its beaches where the community congregates during good weather. I painted blues for the river on a blue-sky day, tans for the beach and pops of color for the boats and people. Though abstract might not have been the best fit for our community, the paintings were still received with love. And, most importantly, they brought a good price for the cause.

I had two sets of prints made of the original paintings. I wanted to share the calm beauty, so these lovely prints are for sale. You can find River Beach I here and its companion River Beach II here.

Thank you, fundraiser, for getting me back into my painting groove. Next time though, I’ll rely on my marketing skills and do a River Life sign or a painting of shells lol.
