ABOUT THE ARTIST

Luisa Jung is an Argentine-born illustrator with a background in architecture and a passion for bold, thought-provoking visuals. THE WORK

Luisa recently completed over 60 conceptual illustrations and hand-lettered designs for wandeln – My Lenten Guide 2025, published by Andere Zeiten.

This beautifully crafted book guides readers from Ash Wednesday to Easter Monday, with each week featuring a unique theme and color palette. Daily reflections, meditations, and exercises are paired with custom illustrations, bringing depth and visual harmony to the experience.

As wandeln celebrates its 10th anniversary, Luisa also illustrated the packaging for a special postcard set featuring artwork from contributors over the years.

She’s excited to finally share a closer look at this meaningful and visually rich project.

“Spätvorstellung” (Late Show)
A full-page illustration by Luisa, commissioned by Frankfurter Allgemeine Magazin for an article by Susanne Grautmann.

The piece visually explores the theme of personal reinvention later in life. As the article reflects on the courage it takes to make bold life changes with age, Luisa’s illustration captures the emotional complexity and potential beauty of starting over.

Portrait of Dawes

Illustrated by Luisa for Rolling Stone Germany, this portrait was commissioned to accompany the review of the band’s new album, Oh Brother. Luisa’s illustration captures the band’s introspective tone and timeless Americana spirit, visually echoing the emotional depth and lyrical warmth of the music.

Cover and opener illustration by Luisa Jung for C&EN News, created for a feature on the race to discover elements 119 and 120. This conceptual piece visualizes the intensity and precision behind global efforts — from Japan to the US — to forge new elements using particle accelerators. Luisa’s work captures the fleeting, high-stakes nature of scientific discovery at the outer edge of the periodic table.

A series of conceptual illustrations by Luisa, commissioned by the German Heart Foundation for HERZHeute magazine.

The illustrations explore how gender differences impact diagnosis, treatment, and outcomes in cardiology — emphasizing the importance of recognizing these distinctions to improve heart health for everyone.
