THE WORK

Illustrator: Christian Dellavedova

Client: Het-Parool Newspaper

Agent: AAA Rep

From the Artist: I was asked by the Dutch newspaper Het-Parool to illustrate an article about how the digital revolution rages on. Also, and especially, in science. Het-Parool explains how Medical science is no longer only conducted in a culture tank – in vitro – or on a laboratory animal – in vivo – but also in the computer – in silico. The latest addition to this family is the so-called digital twin, in which a human organ is copied to the computer so that scientists and doctors can study and edit it in detail. A Superplatform helping the doctor move forward where the digitized parts of the human body all appear on one super platform: ‘Spotify for medicine.’ They asked me to illustrate the article’s main topic with a simple vector graphic and conceptual illustration. I imagined a microscope examining thousand of cell digital copies like in a huge digital database.”
