THE WORK

Illustrator: Christian Dellavedova

Client: Internazionale Magazine

Agent: AAA Rep

FROM THE ARTIST: “I created these illustrations for an article by Ed Yong about how the pandemic made it clear that science touches everything, and everything touches science. I used tarots as a metaphor for the complexity and chaos of the pandemic issue. Rather than use different elements in the illustrations, I preferred to let the tarots themselves  speak. So with this in mind, I created 12 different tarots for each issue marked by the pandemic and the article: The Pandemic, The Journalist, The Scienti fic journalist, The Call, The Doctor, The Society, The Politics, The Virus, The Algorithm, The Science, The World, The Quarantine. I used “The Pandemic” instead of the card “The fool” represented by a fool’s hat over the world to underscore how the pandemic hasn’t just been a science story. It is an omnicrisis that has warped and upended every aspect of our lives.”
