Rita Reis Artist Feature Directory of Illustration

Artist Feature: Rita Reis

From Portugal with LOVE

For this week’s Artist Feature, the Directory of Illustration would like to visit the work of Portuguese artist Rita Reis.

Based out of Aveiro, Rita graduated with a degree in Fine Arts-Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto. Rita continually develops her illustration, sculpture and design work, and often participates in individual and collective exhibitions. Her portfolio is full of life and communicates her love for the world of emotions and fantasy. She speaks to that little child in all of us, trying to find happiness in a strange world.

Recent clients: SUSPLACE Sustainable Place Shaping.

After seeing Rita’s work on the DOI website, SUSPLACE commissioned her to create 43 illustrations for six children’s stories in a project called “Once Upon the Future: Everyday Adventures that Change the World”. The books are designed to inspire children’s curiosity by highlighting the connection between modern life and tradition and empowering readers to change their surroundings. Rita’s unique style, whimsical characters, and strong use of vibrant colors were a perfect match for their project.

Join us on an exploration of youth, color, and pure imagination as we take a look through a sampling of  her wonderful work below.
