James Yang’s Art Takes Flight with USPS Love Series Forever Stamps

It’s official—illustrator James Yang has made his mark on American history. The artist, known for his vibrant conceptual style and award-winning children’s book illustrations, was recently commissioned by the United States Postal Service to create artwork for the upcoming Love Series Forever Stamps, set to debut in February 2026.

Inspired by both mid-century American design and Japanese children’s book illustrations, Yang’s artwork captures the spirit of affection and connection through a playful series of stylized birds. Each pair is surrounded by color and form, where hearts emerge—like love itself—in sweet and surprising ways. The project was art directed by Ethel Kessler for USPS.

For Yang, this commission represents more than just another milestone—it’s a place in the visual history of the nation. “It’s with great joy to share this image,” says his agent, David Goldman. “This project marks James’s entry into American history, becoming part of USPS’s celebrated Love Series—a height we never imagined his career would reach.”

Yang’s creative journey has already been filled with remarkable achievements. His 8-foot “Clockman” sculpture was previously featured at the Smithsonian’s American History Museum, and his artwork has graced the New York City subway system, with designs for posters and the interiors of over 200 cars. Beyond these high-profile collaborations, Yang’s illustrations have earned international recognition across editorial, advertising, and publishing—particularly for his beloved children’s books. He has won over 300 awards for illustration, animation, and authorship excellence.

The new Love Forever Stamps stand as both a celebration of Yang’s artistic voice and a testament to his enduring ability to create images that connect with audiences everywhere. With this project, his work will not only inspire but also travel—carried on letters and notes of love across the country for years to come.
